Workers cultural association “Pelagic” was founded in 1927. Thousands of young people, enthusiasts, amateurs pass through this association, spreading our culture accros the Europe.
”Pelagic” has folklore ensemble, folk and tamburica orchestra, choir, reciter section, and painter- sculptor studio. All the setion in “Pelagic” have won many first prices and rewards on festivals and expositions accros Former Yougoslavia and Europe.
Name of “Pelagic” was heard in Italy, Austria, Germany, France, Poland, Belgium, Switzerland, Great Britain and others, festivals of tamburica music of Yougoslavia in Osijek, in “Sava center” in Belgrade, “Skenderija” in Sarajevo.
”Pelagic” won first place on world folklore festival in Erlangen (Germany) 1971., 1975. and 1977.. On festival in Belgium 1985. youth ensemble won first place. On competition 17 choirs in London, “Pelagic” has won second place.
Great treasure of „Pelagic” is fund of original costumes,some of the models are more then 100 years old, and some of them are last peaces existing.
After civil war in Bosnia and Herzegovina “Pelagic” has come out on internationl scene in 2001. in Thesaloniky, Greece. After that comes festivals in Nis (Serbia), Bulgaria, Romania, 2002. Ukraine (youth and A-ensemble,and both of them won Gran pri) and Germany, 2003. “Pelagic” has been in Turkey,Germany, and for the last four years “Pelagic” has been in Turkey, 3 times in Switzerland, Hungary, Poland, Holand, Czech Republic,4 times in Slovenia, 6 times in Croatia and many,many times in Serbia and Montenegro.
Today “Pelagic” ha 350 members, 4 foklore ensembles, folk and tamburica orchestra, and vocal solists, and trying to bring back ex rating and sections (over 600 members) and to spread culture of our people, which is big and perennial.
